[ShenZhen, April 25, 2025] RoboSense (2498.HK), a global leader in AI-driven robotics technology platforms, participated in Auto Shanghai 2025 from April 23 to May 2. On the third day of the exhibition, Mark Qiu, CEO of RoboSense, attended the SAIC Volkswagen Brand Day Launch Event. During the event, RoboSense joined representatives from Baidu, Alibaba Cloud, and CATL on stage to jointly sign the “Technology & Ecosystem” strategic cooperation agreement with SAIC Volkswagen.
This marks the official establishment of a strategic partnership between RoboSense and SAIC Volkswagen. As joint venture carmakers move swiftly to embrace the Chinese market, RoboSense will work closely with industry partners to help integrate Volkswagen’s global development standards with China’s market speed, contributing innovative strength to the synergistic development of SAIC Volkswagen and the broader Chinese automotive ecosystem.
At Auto Shanghai 2025, the ID.ERA, SAIC Volkswagen's first range-extended full-size SUV concept car, made its grand debut. The model boasts a comprehensive range of over 1,000 kilometers (CLTC) and is equipped with an industry-leading, safe, reliable, and universally accessible intelligent assisted driving system. This system supports high-speed, urban, and point-to-point navigation assisted driving with map-free full-scenario coverage. The design integrates “German simplicity” with “Eastern aesthetics,” cleverly embedding intelligent sensing components, such as LiDAR, into the car body, creating a highly futuristic look. As a significant milestone in SAIC Volkswagen's "Joint Venture 2.0 era," the ID.ERA embodies the company's commitment to new energy transformation and symbolizes its entry into a new track with innovative cooperation models, a new generation of design language, and revolutionary technological architecture. The production version of the ID.ERA concept car is expected to be launched in 2026.
Amid the global restructuring of the automotive industry and the rapid development of the new energy vehicle (NEV) market, SAIC Volkswagen has adopted a dual-track development strategy of "co-development of gasoline and electric vehicles, both incorporating intelligent technology." This strategy positions "global intelligence and Chinese speed" as its driving force, ushering in the "Joint Venture 2.0 Era" characterized by "co-creation of technology."
As a pioneer in China's automotive joint ventures, SAIC Volkswagen achieved a cumulative annual sales volume of 1.2 million vehicles in 2024, with new energy models accounting for over 143,000 units, marking a 12% year-on-year growth. SAIC Volkswagen plans to intensify its efforts across the gasoline, electric, and hybrid markets. By the end of 2026, the company aims to launch 10 new models, including 7 new energy vehicles, and to introduce more than 20 new models by 2030.
At SAIC Volkswagen’s Future Tech exhibition area, RoboSense, as a “Co-Creation Technology” partner, showcased the world’s first “Thousand-Beam” long-range digital LiDAR, the EM4. Through real-time demonstrations of HD point clouds, the EM4 displayed its high-definition 3D vision as a digital LiDAR, attracting many attendees. Thanks to its digital architecture, the EM4 boasts a 1080P resolution, providing a maximum detection range of up to 600 meters in 1080P mode. It is currently the farthest-reaching and highest-resolution automotive-grade digital LiDAR in the industry, setting a new benchmark for ultra-clear perception in autonomous driving.
RoboSense will continue to leverage its industry-leading technology and extensive experience in industrial implementation. Through deepening "Co-Creation Technology," RoboSense will work with SAIC Volkswagen to create a mobility partner that integrates safety, reliability, luxury, comfort, and pioneering technology. They aim to empower truly intelligent mobility solutions that understand the needs of consumers, ushering in a new era of transportation and offering consumers an innovative and exciting intelligent travel experience.
